ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 30. /Dunyo IA/.  Diplomats from Uzbekistan met with Olga Viktorovna Popelnyukha, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Rostov Region (Russia), to review the outcomes of their joint work in 2025 and discuss plans for further cooperation, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, Russian delegation highlighted the economic potential of Rostov Region, emphasizing the area’s agricultural focus and its interest in developing cooperation with Uzbek regions in the field of agriculture. Officials also underscored the similarity of climatic conditions, which provides favorable opportunities for experience exchange and the implementation of modern agricultural technologies.

Uzbek diplomats confirmed the existence of broad opportunities to deepen cooperation in the agricultural sector, including the use of arable land and the implementation of joint projects in plant breeding and seed production.

Particular attention was given to the development of direct contacts between business communities. Both sides emphasized the value of continuing mutual business missions and organizing entrepreneur visits, taking into account shared interests in each other’s product range. In this context, officials noted positive momentum in business contacts that had been established through previous online meetings between representatives of both countries’ commercial sectors.

As part of interregional cooperation, the possibility of expanding ties between Jizzakh Region and Rostov Region was also discussed, including the potential establishment of sister-city relations between the cities of Jizzakh and Rostov-on-Don.

The Russian side expressed interest in hosting a reciprocal visit by a delegation from Jizzakh Region to Rostov Region. Officials noted that such a visit in 2026 would provide an additional impetus to the development of bilateral ties.
