President of Uzbekistan reviews the operations of a porcelain stoneware tile plant in Quvasay

ТАSHKENT, April 27. /Dunyo IA/.   Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Crown Ceramic” joint venture in Quvasoy and reviewed the porcelain tile production process, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our State, in Uzbekistan, particular attention is paid to expanding the production of import-substituting and export-oriented goods based on local raw materials. Currently, 47 ceramic tile manufacturing enterprises operate nationwide. Last year, they produced 47.2 million square meters of output, covering domestic demand by 128.6 percent.

The “Crown Ceramic” joint venture was established in Quvasoy in 2025 in accordance with the Presidential decree dated December 16, 2024, aimed at the socio-economic development of the Fergana region. With an annual capacity of 8 million square meters of porcelain tiles, the project can produce goods worth 1 trillion soums, generate added value of 665 billion soums, and export products worth $35 million.

The plant utilizes local raw materials at a rate of 97 percent. Most inputs are sourced from deposits in Quvasoy, as well as from Angren in the Tashkent region. The production process uses 600 tons of sorted stone, 100 tons of red kaolin, and 100 tons of gray kaolin daily.

Large-format porcelain stoneware, which is rare in the markets of Central Asia and Eastern Europe, is produced at the plant. The plant manufactures products in six different sizes.

It produces high value-added products from ordinary river stone. Processes for the production of feldspar, as well as the purification of carbon-containing impurities in kaolin, have been established. This plays an important role in the production of high-quality porcelain stoneware.

Production processes are fully digitized, and energy-efficient equipment is used. Special attention is also paid to environmental requirements: modern dust collection and filtration systems have been installed. Rainwater is collected and used in production. A closed-loop system for purifying and reusing wastewater has been established.

Thanks to modern technologies, electricity consumption during raw material preparation has been reduced by 20 percent. Daytime production is carried out using natural light.

The ceramic tiles produced at the plant can compete with products from Italy, Spain, and China in terms of quality and technical characteristics. In January–March of this year, the enterprise supplied 80,000 square meters of products worth $400,000 to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. To expand export markets, plans are in place to sign contracts with Kazakhstan, Russia, and European countries.

The enterprise is currently conducting research and practical work on the localization of imported glaze materials. A new $20 million project, which will enable the production of 50,000 tons of glaze per year, is scheduled to be commissioned in September 2026. As a result, it is expected to create an additional 100 jobs, increase exports by $10 million, and meet 85 percent of the demand for glaze using the enterprise’s own resources.

The Head of State reviewed the production and storage processes, implemented technologies, and export plans. The President emphasized that such joint ventures play an important role in regional economic development through the deep processing of local raw materials and the creation of high value-added products.
