LONDON, September 8. /Dunyo IA/. In 2026, Uzbekistan adopted the National Strategy for the Development of Financial Technologies for 2026–2030 and plans to attract $1 billion in foreign investment into fintech start-ups, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the British publication “The Fintech Times”.
Digital transformation has been driven by payment services “Click” and “Payme”, while “Uzum” has emerged as the most prominent example of the sector’s new phase, combining e-commerce, digital banking and lending. In March, the company raised more than $130 million at a valuation of $2.3 billion, and later signed an agreement with the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) for a $70 million investment loan.
By 2030, Uzbekistan aims to increase the number of fintech companies to at least 200. Open banking is scheduled to be introduced in September 2026, enabling fintech companies to access customers’ financial data with their consent.
At the same time, financial inclusion remains a challenge: according to the World Bank, 60.7 percent of the country’s adult population had a bank account in 2024. Through further digitization and reforms, Uzbekistan aims to strengthen Tashkent’s position as one of Central Asia’s leading fintech hubs.
