Expansion of cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan in industry, trade and investment discussed in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, May 6. /Dunyo IA/.  Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev and the Khokim (Governor) of the Navoi region Normat Tursunov held talks with the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Industry and Production, Minister of Industry and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed prospects for the further development of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation in trade, economic, industrial, and investment spheres. They also discussed the implementation of agreements on interregional cooperation reached during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Pakistan on February 5-6 of this year.

Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan noted that he personally participated in the high-level negotiations held in Islamabad. He emphasized the foresight of the Uzbek leader, his ability to find effective solutions to complex issues and his strong orientation toward achieving practical results.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side put forward an initiative to import live cattle from Pakistan, and the parties exchanged views on defining practical steps in this direction. Furthermore, agreements were reached to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, leather and footwear processing, and other promising sectors.

The meeting participants focused on strengthening ties between business communities, increasing meat exports, and accelerating regional trade and economic integration processes.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan announced plans to visit Uzbekistan in the near future. The visit is intended to facilitate a more in-depth study of opportunities for investment cooperation and industrial partnership.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the dialogue aimed at further strengthening the partnership to improve the well-being of the peoples of the two countries, ensure sustainable economic growth and foster long-term development.
