BUDAPEST, January 15. /Dunyo IA/. President of Hungary, Tamás Sulyok has officially scheduled the parliamentary elections for April 12, 2026, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing a statement from the President’s Residence (Sándor Palace) to the Hungarian news agency “MTI”.
It was noted that the president set the election date for the members of the National Assembly of Hungary, thereby ensuring compliance with the legal procedures enshrined in the Fundamental Law and the Electoral Act.
The choice of April 12, 2026, aligns with Hungary’s constitutional tradition. The date was set at the earliest legally permissible time, allowing for a full-scale electoral process to be conducted across the country.
In his statement, the head of state emphasized that free elections are the cornerstone of representative democracy and crucial for popular sovereignty. He also urged citizens to actively exercise their right to vote, highlighting the importance of broad participation in the democratic process.
