Young Mathematicians of Uzbekistan won medals at the VI Open International Olympiad in Ashgabat

ASHGABAT, March 30. /Dunyo IA/. From March 24 to 28, 2026, the 6th Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (OMOUS-2026) was held at the International University for the Humanities and Development in the capital of Turkmenistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
About 600 students from higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iran, UAE, Russia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands and other countries took part in this prestigious event.
Uzbekistan was represented by 205 students from 28 higher education institutions. Following the team competitions, the Uzbek national team secured 10 team awards, earning second place. In the individual competitions, the Uzbekistan team won 103 medals, also ranking second in the overall medal count.
As part of the Olympiad, Uzbek professors conducted masterclasses for Turkmen students. At the closing ceremony, Umida Khalikova, an associate professor at Bukhara State University, spoke on behalf of the Uzbek delegation, sharing her impressions of the event and highlighting the friendship between the two nations.
It was noted that the international Olympiad in Ashgabat served not only as a platform for scientific competition but also as a venue for friendship, cooperation and the exchange of experience among young representatives of different nationalities.
