SAN FRANCISCO, March 24. /Dunyo IA/. On March 20–21, in the American city of San Francisco, festive events were organized by the Uzbek Community of the San Francisco Bay Area in California, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York, to celebrate Navruz, including an event held at the San Francisco City Hall, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The events were attended by representatives of the local administration, as well as diaspora associations from several foreign countries, including Turkic-speaking nations. The program showcased Uzbekistan's national culture, traditions and customs.
A celebratory message from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York was read to the audience on the occasion of Navruz. As a mark of respect, the Mayor of the city was presented with a traditional Uzbek gold-embroidered robe (chapan).
The event featured thematic exhibitions dedicated to the history, culture, and traditions of Uzbekistan. Special focus was placed on promoting the country's tourism potential; for this purpose, presentation materials, flyers and other promotional items highlighting travel routes, historic cities and cultural sites were distributed. Guests were also introduced to handcrafted national souvenirs.
The event drew significant interest from local residents and representatives of various communities. Notably, this was the first time a Navruz celebration of this scale had been held within the San Francisco City Hall.
At another venue in the city, festivities continued with traditional national cuisine and a rich cultural program. The agenda included performances of national music, with representatives from Turkic-speaking communities, including the Azerbaijani diaspora, taking part in the celebrations.
The holding of events over two days across multiple venues demonstrated the high level of organization and the active role of the Uzbek community in the region, contributing to the promotion of national culture and strengthening interest in Uzbekistan.
