Uzbek language manual published in Egypt

CAIRO, April 29. /Dunyo IA/. A manual titled "Uzbek Language: Complete Self-Study Guide in 22 Lessons", designed to teach Uzbek from scratch in a simplified style in English, has been published by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Egypt, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The book was prepared based on experience in teaching foreign languages and incorporates recommendations from specialists at the Uzbek State University of World Languages and the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

The introduction of the manual discusses the unique features of the Uzbek language, its stages of development, and the history of the formation of the Uzbek people.

The main part of the book consists of 22 lessons, which do not explain large topics separately and in full detail, as other manuals do. Instead, they focus on teaching the essential rules and structures necessary for learning a foreign language, with topics gradually increasing in complexity.

Considering that understanding verb tenses in Uzbek is relatively difficult for foreigners, the explanations have been simplified and compared with English, differing from traditional standards.

Each lesson ends with short exercises and texts. To avoid burdening learners, the number of exercises has been kept limited.

Additional sections facilitating language learning have also been included at the end of the book. The book explains Uzbek dialects and their differences and provides widely used colloquial words that are not included in the literary language.

Moreover, the manual features popular Uzbek poems and songs, with direct translations of complex words. It also includes interesting facts about Uzbekistan, its ancient cities, and great historical figures.

At the end of the book, a mini Uzbek-English dictionary with more than 2,500 actively used words has been compiled, selected based on usage frequency analysis through various programs.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan is distributing this book among libraries in Egypt and to students at Cairo University who are learning the Uzbek language.

In addition, it is planned to distribute the manual to foreign universities teaching Uzbek through Uzbekistan’s embassies abroad.

The manual is available for readers in other countries as E-book and in color print format on the AMAZON platforms in America, Europe, and Asia, and as an app on Google Books and Google Play.

Furthermore, the textbook has been translated into Russian and is available as E-book under the name "Узбекский язык: Полный курс за 22 урока" on the LITRES platform. It is currently being translated into Arabic as well.
