German Business Day takes place in Tashkent

TASHKENT, May 20. /Dunyo IA/. The forum “German Economy Days in Uzbekistan 2026”, dedicated to the further development of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany, was held in the capital of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was organized by the Delegation of German Economy for Central Asia, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the German-Uzbek Economic Cooperation Office (DUWK Büro), with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Berlin, the Embassy of Germany in Tashkent, the Eastern Committee of German Economy, and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The forum was attended by representatives of government agencies of both countries, major corporations, investors, international financial institutions and experts, as well as approximately 100 German entrepreneurs.

At the opening of the event, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, welcomed the participants and noted that Germany is one of Uzbekistan's key economic partners. He also spoke about measures to create favorable conditions for foreign investors, and to support industrial cooperation and joint projects.

During the forum, issues regarding the improvement of the investment climate, the strengthening of legal guarantees, as well as the expansion of cooperation in the fields of logistics and infrastructure were discussed.

The first was dedicated to topical issues faced by German companies operating in Uzbekistan. It was attended by major investors, representatives of ministries and agencies, as well as leading corporations, who presented practical proposals to improve business conditions.

The second panel session focused on cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany in the field of education and workforce training. Particular attention was paid to the development of dual vocational education, joint educational programs and training specialists in accordance with the needs of the economy.

Ingo Jung, Head of “Askania Bildung”:

- We cooperate in the field of dual vocational education in Uzbekistan. In Germany, such training usually lasts three years. For Uzbek students, the first year of preparation takes place in Uzbekistan. Currently, in Bukhara, Urgench, Fergana, Samarkand and Tashkent, students undergo vocational training in fields such as metal processing, electrical engineering, electronics, construction machinery, and warehouse logistics, while also studying the German language. Our goal is for the youth to not only receive certificates but also acquire the language and professional skills necessary for successful study and work in Germany.

I am confident that in the coming years, even more significant positive changes will take place in this field in Uzbekistan. Of course, the process is not simple and has its complexities, but true hard work always yields results. If young people study persistently and conscientiously, international opportunities will definitely open up for them.

Angela Papenburg, Member of the Board of “Papenburg Unternehmensgruppe” and Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in the Federal States of Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony:

- Currently, together with GIZ, we are planning to open a vocational training center in Andijan. We want the center to reach as many young people as possible, help them with career guidance, and create opportunities for vocational education. We will also conduct career orientation events. We believe that as a result, young people will become more familiar with technical professions and perhaps, become interested in them and choose this path for their future education and career.
