UNESCO leadership highlights the success of Uzbekistan's educational reforms

Bilateral meetings were held at UNESCO headquarters between Minister of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan Ezozkhon Karimova and UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, as well as Assistant Director-General for Education Stefania Giannini, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the negotiations, the current state and promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO in the field of education were discussed. Special attention was paid to early childhood development, teacher training and the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into the educational system.
UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany expressed high respect for the President of Uzbekistan and recalled with satisfaction the previous meetings held in Tashkent in November 2025. He noted the special attention paid by the head of state to the field of education, emphasizing that this serves as practical confirmation of recognizing education as a strategic priority for the country. Furthermore, he separately highlighted the President's initiatives stating that education is one of the key factors for ensuring peace and that artificial intelligence can become the foundation for the future of education.
Khaled El-Enany noted the high level of organization of the educational event held in Samarkand within the framework of the UNESCO General Conference, which was attended by ministers of education from 26 countries. According to him, this clearly demonstrates the importance of education for peace and sustainable development. He also emphasized the readiness of UNESCO's new leadership to further expand cooperation with Uzbekistan.
In her turn, Stefania Giannini noted that Uzbekistan is consistently achieving its set goals, implementing necessary reforms step-by-step and thereby contributing to the improvement of the population's well-being. According to her, the coherence between objectives and practical actions deserves high praise.
Stefania Giannini also noted the priority attention Uzbekistan pays to early childhood development and preschool education. She emphasized the international significance of the approach based on the first thousand days of a child's life, noting that the Category 2 center being established in Tashkent could potentially become an important hub for training qualified pedagogical personnel for both the region and beyond.
