'Independence cup’ football tournament held among Uzbek diaspora in the United States

NEW YORK, September 11. /Dunyo IA/. — The Embassy of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with "Mahalla USA," the Uzbek National Cultural Center, successfully organized the 9th "Independence Cup" football tournament among the Uzbek diaspora in New York City, United States, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The tournament was held with the aim of uniting young compatriots living abroad, strengthening friendship and cooperation, preserving national identity, and promoting our cultural and spiritual values.


The tournament featured 18 teams composed of compatriots representing 11 states across the United States competing against each other.


The "Uz Galaxy" team secured first place and was awarded the championship trophy. "Lochin" team claimed second place, while the "Hamkor Uz Cincinnati Association" team took third place.


All winners and prizeholders were honored with commemorative gifts.


During the event, the official establishment of a "Fan Club" comprised of compatriots residing in the United States and Canada was announced under the auspices of the Embassy. The formation of the Fan Club was warmly welcomed by football enthusiasts. Many young people expressed their eagerness to join the club and support the Uzbekistan national football team during the upcoming World Cup matches to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.


"Independence Cup" football tournament served as an important platform for young Uzbek expatriates in the United States to showcase their athletic talents, strengthen team cooperation, promote national values, and further reinforce their connection with Uzbekistan.
