• 341KUALA LUMPUR, January 23. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from Fergana Region held meetings with major Malaysian companies during its visit to Malaysia, including leading fruit importers and distributors “Nature’s Best Sdn Bhd” and “Hoi Yong Fruits Marketing Sdn Bhd”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The delegation included representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Department of Investments, Industry and Trade as well as export-oriented enterprises.
According to Linus Ng, General Director of “Nature’s Best Sdn Bhd”, Malaysian market primarily imports fresh fruit from the United States, Türkiye, South Africa, Egypt, Australia and China. Uzbek cherries, noted for their sweetness and early ripening, have the potential to successfully compete with similar products from the U.S. and Türkiye.
The entrepreneur also highlighted that there is particularly strong demand in the Malaysian market for crisp, sweet and large-sized cherries (28–32 mm in diameter).
“During the season, it is possible to regularly supply up to 4 tonnes of export-quality cherries per week from Uzbekistan. With efficient and reliable air logistics in place, Uzbek produce could establish a firm foothold in the Malaysian market”, - the director noted.
The Chairman of “Hoi Yong Fruits Marketing Sdn Bhd” announced plans to implement a packaging system for fresh fruit imported from Uzbekistan, using light, transparent plastic containers of 250–500 grams, which would then be shipped in corrugated cardboard boxes directly to supermarkets across Malaysia. According to him, this packaging method significantly reduces the risk of damage during transportation and helps preserve the fruit’s high quality.
In addition, Malaysian companies expressed their willingness to import other types of fresh produce grown in Uzbekistan, including apricots, grapes, peaches, pomegranates, lemons, figs and melons, and voiced interest in establishing direct partnerships with major domestic exporters of fruit and vegetables.
