ANKARA, May 2. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara with a group of deputies from the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye representing the Trabzon province, reports a correspondent for the Dunyo Information Agency.
One of the key topics of the meeting was the tourism sector. Adil Karaismailoğlu, Chairman of the relevant parliamentary committee, emphasized the necessity of developing new tourist routes and launching direct flights connecting Trabzon with cities in Uzbekistan. According to his data, 12,000 Uzbek tourists visited Trabzon via direct flights in 2025, while another 25,000 arrived by land through Batumi. These figures clearly demonstrate a high demand for direct air connectivity.
It was noted that seasonal flights to Trabzon are scheduled to launch in May by “Qanot Sharq” and “Centrum Air” airlines. Additionally, negotiations are underway with 'Pegasus Airlines' to organize flights on this route. Furthermore, the development of cultural, pilgrimage and medical tourism, the creation of joint tourist routes and the attraction of investments into infrastructure were identified as promising areas for future growth.
Overall, the meeting was held in a constructive and practical atmosphere. The parties reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen the strategic partnership, intensify inter-parliamentary dialogue and expand cooperation through the implementation of specific joint projects.
