From India to Italy: Top 20 countries sending students to Uzbekistan for education

TASHKENT, January 6. /Dunyo IA/. From January to November 2025, Uzbekistan was visited by 37.2 thousand foreign nationals for educational purposes, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the National Statistics Committee, this figure represents a 54.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year, indicating the growing international recognition of Uzbekistan’s education system.
Among the countries whose citizens most frequently came to Uzbekistan to pursue education, India ranks first, with 16.3 thousand students. They are followed by:
- Turkmenistan — 8.9 thousand
- Tajikistan — 2.7 thousand
- Pakistan — 1.7 thousand
- China — 1.4 thousand
- Republic of Korea — 870
- Kyrgyzstan — 823
- Egypt — 737
- Philippines — 501
- United States — 464
- Türkiye — 357
- Afghanistan — 291

Year-on-year growth of more than 50 percent indicates that an increasing number of students from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa are choosing Uzbekistan for education, citing competitive academic programs, affordability, and the strengthening international ties of higher education institutions.
The rising number of foreign students confirms Uzbekistan’s growing role as an emerging educational hub in the region, expanding international cooperation and enhancing the global appeal of the country’s educational institutions.
