An international conference dedicated to the scientific heritage of the great thinker Abu Rayhan Beruni was held in Delhi

DELHI, October 3. /IA "Dunyo"/. A conference dedicated to the 1050th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker and encyclopedist Abu Rayhan Beruni was held at the International Center of India, reports a correspondent of "Dunyo" information agency.

The conference, organized jointly with the Embassy of our country in Delhi and the India-Central Asia Foundation, was attended by representatives of leading universities and research centers of the two countries.
Scientists from the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia University, Kashmir University and other researchers spoke about the scientific activities and role of the great thinker Abu Rayhan Beruni in the development of world science.
It was noted that the encyclopedist’s research activities covered various areas and had a great influence on the development of scientific thinking of mankind. It was emphasized that his works on astronomy, mathematics, mineralogy, geography, history, medicine and many other subjects laid the foundation for scientific research in these areas. And today the significance of the scientist’s rich scientific heritage is great, and his invaluable works continue to be studied in depth and consistently on an international scale.
"Beruni's legacy has special significance for India," says Tabassum Firdavs, director of the Center for Central Asian Studies at the University of Kashmir. - His book "India" is one of the first works written about our country. It contains very invaluable information about Indian traditions, festivals and science. Even today, in the process of studying the history of India, this work has not lost its significance as a unique source."
"The works of Abu Raihan Beruni always serve as a unique source and a high pinnacle for scholars," says Rashmini Koparkar, a research fellow at the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University. - His scientific research methodology, the data collected, and the results of scientific and analytical activities remain an example for representatives of the world of science. That’s why today people often turn to the legacy of the great scientist."
