Pakistan-based company explores investment opportunities for deep leather processing in the Tashkent region

LAHORE, March 14. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Khokim (Governor) of the Tashkent region Zoyir Mirzaev and Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, visited the company “Royal Leather Industries” in Lahore and held a meeting with its head, Malik Mukhammad Azam, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The meeting focused on opportunities for cooperation in the deep processing of local raw materials, production of high-value-added goods, expansion of export destinations and technology transfer.
Khokim of the Tashkent region presented the Pakistani side with the achievements of Uzbekistan's leather industry, measures to attract foreign investment and the establishment of joint ventures for producing competitive goods. He noted that the country operates more than 100 enterprises for leather processing and the manufacturing of finished products, which are exported to Central Asian countries and Russia.
Uzbek side announced that a 35-hectare industrial zone dedicated to high-tech leather processing enterprises has been established in the Tashkent region and “Royal Leather Industries” is invited to implement its projects there.
The head of the company, Malik Muhammad Azam, emphasized that the areas of cooperation have been defined and the company plans to send a delegation to Uzbekistan in March - April to study the implementation of joint projects in detail.
“Uzbekistan has a large volume of raw leather. We have begun collecting raw materials across the country and establishing a processing facility in the Tashkent region. The processed materials will be exported to Pakistan, where they will be transformed into finished products for subsequent export to other countries”, - he noted.
Following the negotiations, it was highlighted that cooperation with “Royal Leather Industries” will increase the production capacity of the Uzbek leather industry, create new jobs and expand the export share of finished goods.
