KUALA LUMPUR, March 12. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Karomiddin Gadoev, held talks with Mohamad Zabawi bin Abdul Ghani, Director General of the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Parties discussed the expansion of current cooperation through joint research on vegetable and melon crops, the exchange of high-quality seeds and seedlings, and the creation of new varieties adapted to the climate of Uzbekistan.
Uzbek specialists are particularly interested in Malaysia's experience in high-yield rice cultivation. The application of Malaysian drought-resistant and salt-tolerant varieties has already yielded positive results.
The sides plan to exchange seeds of watermelons and seedless melons, conduct laboratory and field trials, implement innovative agricultural technologies in agro-clusters and farms and exchange specialists.
Director General of MARDI announced a planned visit to Uzbekistan in August to develop joint projects and agreements.
Founded in 1969, MARDI is Malaysia's leading research institution in the field of agriculture, working on the implementation of new technologies and scientific solutions for farmers.
