Uzbekistan-Egypt agricultural cooperation reaches a new level

CAIRO, April 17. /Dunyo IA/. Embassy of Uzbekistan organized online negotiations involving specialists from the “UzAgroStar” holding, Agricultural Research Center of Egypt and Horticultural Research Institute, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The primary goal of the meeting was the further development of bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, as well as the intensification of information and best practices exchange.

During the negotiations, it was noted that effective interaction in the field of potato growing has already been established between the parties. In particular, elite potato seeds are being successfully cultivated in Uzbekistan based on Egyptian experience.

As a logical continuation of this cooperation, the parties discussed the prospects of adapting export-oriented seedless grape varieties, such as “Flame Seedless”, “Superior” and “Crimson”, to the climatic conditions of Uzbekistan, with subsequent seedling production and cultivation. They also considered opportunities for establishing the seed production of hybrid tomato varieties resistant to both high and low temperatures.

Particular attention was paid to the introduction of modern technologies. Given Egypt's experience in applying artificial intelligence and renewable energy systems in agriculture, the parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in this area. Specifically, possibility of joint project development for the creation of “Smart Greenhouses” was discussed.

In addition, the Egyptian side expressed its readiness to provide practical support in establishing laboratories for soil, water and product safety analysis based on international ISO standards.

A separate emphasis was placed on professional development. An agreement was reached to involve Egyptian experts in the training centers operating under the “UzAgroStar” holding, as well as to organize internships for 20 Uzbek farmers in Egypt in June–July of this year.

Following the meeting, Egyptian side confirmed its readiness to cooperate in all the discussed areas.
