Uzbekistan and Latvia establish new cargo air connection between Tashkent and Riga

RIGA, January 28. /Dunyo IA/. An event was held at Riga International Airport to mark the launch of cargo flights by the Uzbek airline “Flykhiva” on the “Tashkent – Riga” route, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
As part of the event, a ceremonial reception was held for the airline’s first cargo plane arriving in the Latvian capital.
The event was attended by Andulis Židkovs, State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia; Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of Executive Board at RIX Riga Airport; Girts Rudzins, Deputy Head of Latvijas Pasts and Raimonds Zukuls, Deputy Director General in the Field of Customs, Director of the SRS Customs Board.
According to the Latvian side, the launch of the new air route will be an important step in developing transport and logistics cooperation between Uzbekistan and Latvia and will contribute to strengthening trade and economic ties between Central Asia and the European Union.
Andulis Židkovs noted that he views the introduction of direct cargo flights between Tashkent and Riga as a sign of further strengthening Uzbekistan’s position as an important logistics hub in the Central Asian region.
The airline “Flykhiva” now plans to operate regular cargo flights on the “Tashkent – Riga” route once a week. The majority of the transported cargo consists of export products, postal and commercial shipments from Uzbekistan to EU countries, as well as orders placed through international e-commerce platforms such as “TEMU”, “AliExpress” and others.
