Uzbekistan and Spain discuss prospects for simplifying visa procedures and strengthening labor migration cooperation

ТASHKENT, January 30. /Dunyo IA/.  On January 27, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan with Maria Asunción Sánchez Ruiz, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Spain to Uzbekistan (residing in Moscow), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the Consular-Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Uzbekistan continues systematic efforts to diversify migration flows and expand the geographic scope of labour migration for its citizens, with Spain identified as a promising destination in this context.

During the talks, both sides discussed current consular matters as well as prospects for simplifying visa procedures and enhancing cooperation in the field of labour migration.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side proposed that Spain consider signing an intergovernmental Mobility and Migration Agreement, launching a pilot project to attract labour migrants from Uzbekistan in the agriculture and construction sectors and including Uzbekistan in Spain’s organized foreign  worker recruitment system, “contratación en origen” (Gestión Colectiva de Contrataciones en Origen / Collective Management of Recruitment at Source).

Both sides expressed their readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation and coordination between the relevant agencies of Uzbekistan and Spain, while affirming the prospects for further collaboration, including in the field of migration.
