Officials discuss opportunities for strengthening urban planning and city management ties with Pakistan in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, January 3. /Dunyo IA/.  Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev met with Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, to discuss the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Pakistani relations, interregional cooperation and potential areas of collaboration, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The meeting focused on expanding trade, economic, and investment partnerships, exchanging expertise in urban development, and organizing mutual visits. Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted the work under the memorandum signed between Islamabad and Tashkent during previous high-level visits and emphasized the importance of further intensifying this cooperation.

Randhawa proposed establishing a sister-city relationship between Islamabad and Samarkand, noting Samarkand’s historical role as a center of the Silk Road and international trade. He suggested joint initiatives such as naming streets or parks in Islamabad after Uzbekistan and creating an ecological park with Uzbek investment.

The parties also discussed developing trade, economic, and investment ties between Uzbek regions and Islamabad, as well as implementing joint projects in tourism, transport, and urban planning.

The meeting concluded with agreements to exchange expertise in urban development, expand cultural and humanitarian ties, and organize joint activities across areas of mutual interest.
