Ambassador of Uzbekistan meets with Deputy Minister of External Affairs of India

NEW DELHI, March 20. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting was held in New Delhi between Sardor Rustambaev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan and Sibi George, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The parties discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, including the organization of the next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as the schedule of upcoming visits at various levels.
Particular attention was given to economic diplomacy. It was confirmed that the 14th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation will be held in April in Tashkent.
In the context of multilateral engagement, the Indian side reaffirmed its support for Uzbekistan’s initiatives.
In particular, discussions covered India’s assistance in Uzbekistan’s accession process to the World Trade Organization, as well as the implementation of Uzbekistan’s initiative to adopt a Declaration on strengthening multilateral cooperation for nuclear security within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
During the meeting, support was also expressed for Uzbekistan’s proposal to hold a Digital Technologies Forum in 2026 within the framework of the “India–Central Asia” dialogue. In addition, agreements were reached to organize meetings with members of the Uzbekistan Friendship Group in the lower house of the Indian Parliament, as well as to launch a process for reviewing the bilateral legal and treaty framework.
