TOKYO, July 31. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mukhsinkhodja Abdurakhmonov met with DOI Kentaro, Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, prospects for developing bilateral cooperation in the fields of ecology, environmental protection and combating climate change were discussed.

Parties emphasized that the strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Japan are consistently strengthening. At the same time, the Uzbek side expressed interest in further expanding interaction in various areas, primarily in the field of environmental protection.

Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of environmental protection, signed in March this year between the National Committee of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change and the Ministry of the Environment of Japan.

During the talks, Uzbek side also proposed developing cooperation between Japanese specialized institutions and the Green University, which studies ecology and climate change issues in Central Asia. Specifically, initiatives were put forward to develop academic exchanges, develop joint educational programs and train highly qualified specialists.

Kentaro Doi noted that during his visit to Green University on March 11, 2026, he was impressed by the conditions created at the university for education and scientific research, as well as the high level of qualification of the faculty and experts.

Japanese side expressed interest in establishing cooperation with this higher education institution and announced the launch of a review into potential areas of interaction.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue a regular working dialogue on the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection.
