Islamabad reviews progress on the implementation of high-level Uzbekistan–Pakistan Agreements

ISLAMABAD, August 6. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev met with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, the implementation of agreements reached at the highest and high levels, as well as matters of further expanding interaction in the trade, economic, investment, transport and logistics spheres.

Tariq Fatemi particularly noted that trustful and constructive relations, based on mutual respect and sincere dialogue, have been established between Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“Government of Pakistan highly values the activities of the President of Uzbekistan as a visionary statesman and the initiator of large-scale transformations, thanks to which the country has entered a qualitatively new stage of socio-economic development, and received a powerful impetus to strengthen cooperation and ensure sustainable development throughout the Central Asian region, he emphasized. - In this regard, the relevant agencies are taking all necessary measures for the full and effective implementation of the agreements reached following the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, which took place on February 5–6 of this year”.

In this context, the parties reviewed the implementation of bilateral documents and agreements signed within the framework of the state visit, exchanged views on specific issues arising in the process of their execution, and identified practical measures aimed at their prompt resolution.

One of the key topics of the negotiations was the further development of interregional cooperation, creation of favourable conditions for representatives of business circles, the stimulation of mutual investments, implementation of joint projects and the increase in the volume of bilateral trade.

Pakistani side expressed full support for the visits of delegations comprising heads of regions of Uzbekistan and business community representatives to the country, emphasizing the importance of increasing the frequency of such contacts and enhancing their practical effectiveness.

Furthermore, special attention was paid to the issues of issuing the necessary permits for the export of live cattle from Pakistan to Uzbekistan, as well as establishing direct correspondent relations between the banks of the two countries.

Following the meeting, parties agreed to continue a constructive dialogue aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, as well as ensuring the full implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.
