Malaysian Business Sees Syrdarya Region as Key Gateway to Central Asian Market

A forum titled “Do Business in Syrdarya” was held in Malaysia’s capital, with the participation of Syrdarya region governor Erkinjon Turdimov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Karomiddin Gadoev, and Deputy Chairman of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Jai Shankar, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The forum brought together leaders of the Uzbek-Malaysian Business Alliance, the Malaysian Consortium of Medium Capitalization Companies (MCMTC), Malaysia Tourism Agency, SMITA Global Malaysia, and the International Islamic Chamber of Commerce of Malaysia.
Representatives of major Malaysian companies, including Spora Global, BasisBay, JAKEL Holding, MIMOS Berhad, Malaysian Vaccines & Pharmaceuticals, Sparco Engineering, Marrybrown, Tesomac, and Five Petroleum Malaysia, as well as leading entrepreneurs from Syrdarya region, also participated.
In his speech, Jai Shankar noted that Uzbekistan is recognized as one of the most dynamic economies in Central Asia. He emphasized that Syrdarya’s strategic location can make it a regional hub for Malaysian companies and highlighted favorable conditions and incentives for establishing not only trade but also joint manufacturing enterprises.
Several significant agreements were signed between Malaysian companies and the Syrdarya region during the forum. The practical part of the event included intensive B2B negotiations between business representatives of the two countries.
Overall, the forum in Kuala Lumpur under the slogan “Do Business in Syrdarya” generated strong interest among Malaysian entrepreneurs and left a positive impression. Participants noted that the forum served not only as a platform for signing agreements but also as a catalyst for raising bilateral economic cooperation to a new level, recognizing Syrdarya region as the most convenient and promising gateway to the Central Asian market.
