Ambassadors of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy and Spain present reports to Senate Committee

At an extended session of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments and Tourism, reports were heard from Ambassadors of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy and Spain, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the upper house of Parliament, the meeting was attended by senators, heads of ministries and departments, khokimiyats (local administrations), chairpersons of standing committees of local Kengashes of People's Deputies and members of the media.
During the meeting, reports from the heads of diplomatic missions were heard regarding ongoing efforts to develop economic ties with foreign countries, attract investments and grants, expand exports, open new markets and increase tourist flow.
During the deliberations, particular emphasis was placed on the timely implementation of directives and priority tasks set for the heads of diplomatic missions abroad during the President of Uzbekistan’s video-selector meeting on January 15 of this year, which focused on the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions. Specifically, the discussion addressed objectives for the further development of foreign relations, the proactive promotion of national interests and the strengthening of economic diplomacy.
The importance of attracting foreign investment, grants and technologies was also underscored, alongside expanding interregional economic cooperation, leveraging transport and logistics corridors, establishing branches of leading foreign universities, diversifying legal labor migration and ensuring the systemic protection of the rights and interests of citizens temporarily residing abroad.
In this regard, the necessity of enhancing coordination between diplomatic missions and ministries, agencies, local administrations (khokimiyats) and local Kengashes of People’s Deputies was noted.
Following the discussion, a corresponding decision of the Committee was adopted.
