Experts call for a coordinated water policy across Central Asia

BERLIN, April 27. /Dunyo IA/. The 8th Tashkent Forum on Water Security brought together about 100 experts and specialists from 19 countries, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with reference to the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.
It is noted that the central theme of the discussions was strengthening the interaction between science and government agencies to address the region's water problems.
The key focus of the forum was on transitioning from scientific research to practical solutions. Participants emphasized the need to integrate scientific developments into real-world water resource management mechanisms.
The event featured discussions on the effective use of transboundary water resources, including the Amudarya and Syrdarya basins. Special attention was paid to developing coordinated approaches among the countries of Central Asia.
Experts noted that climate change, droughts, and extreme weather events are increasing the pressure on the region's water resources. In this regard, the importance of coordinating state actions and making decisions based on scientific data is growing.
Following the forum, the importance of developing regional cooperation and implementing practice-oriented approaches to ensure sustainable water security was emphasized.
