KUALA LUMPUR, May 15. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan with the management of "TH Travel", a subsidiary of Malaysia's Lembaga Tabung Haji (Pilgrimage Fund Board), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the meeting, issues regarding the broad promotion of Uzbek “Umrah Plus” tour packages among Malaysian citizens were discussed, alongside increasing the flow of pilgrims to the republic through cooperation between the travel companies of the two countries.
In addition, information was presented on the large-scale reforms being carried out in the tourism sector of Uzbekistan, the development of pilgrimage tourism, and measures taken to create comfortable conditions for foreign tourists and pilgrims.
In particular, it was noted with satisfaction that “TH Travel” is conducting its first promotional campaign in Malaysia to send a large group of pilgrims to Uzbekistan, led by the renowned religious scholar Ustaz Kazim Elias, who has over 4.5 million social media followers. The trip is planned for the second half of 2026. The Malaysian side also intends to implement similar initiatives on a regular basis in the future.
According to the company's manager, Mazli Abdul Malik, Uzbekistan's Islamic shrines and tourist sites arouse great interest among the population of Malaysia. In particular, many Malaysians express a desire to visit the recently opened Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent, as well as the renovated Imam al-Bukhari complex in Samarkand.
It was noted that direct flights between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur, operated eight times a week by “Uzbekistan Airways”, “Batik Air” and “AirAsia”, provide additional convenience for tourists and tour operators.
Malaysia's “Tabung Haji” State Council, which manages the organization of Hajj and Umrah, was founded in 1963. Today, it has 107 branches and over 10,000 service points across the country. The “TH Travel” company is one of the leading organizations in Malaysia sending pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah.
