Podlaskie Voivodeship of Poland allocates grant funds to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan

A delegation from the Embassy visited the city of Bialystok and attended the signing ceremony of an agreement to implement grant projects funded by the Podlaskie Voivodeship budget, aimed at developing cooperation between the city of Drohiczyn and the city of Nurafshon in the Tashkent region, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The signing took place with the participation of the Marshal of the Voivodeship (Governor) Łukasz Prokorym.
The specified funds will be used to organize mutual exchange visits, study best practices, conduct seminars, and develop partnership relations between the local government authorities of the two countries.
“In April 2025, with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, we organized an economic mission to this country. Now, the attracted funds will be directed towards developing economic exchange, and we want to place a special emphasis on business and entrepreneurship”, - noted the Mayor of Drohiczyn, Wojciech Borzym.
Additionally, during the visit, a business forum featuring the Podlaskie Voivodeship and the Fergana Region was organized at the Marshal's Office.
From the Uzbek side, the event was attended by Ambassador Amirsaid Agzamkhodjaev, alongside a delegation of entrepreneurs led by Farrukh Rakhmonov, Director of the “Kokand” Free Economic Zone Directorate, who are currently on a visit to Poland. The Polish side was represented by the Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Łukasz Prokorym, the Mayor of Drohiczyn Wojciech Borzym, and representatives of companies operating in the region.
Łukasz Prokorym expressed hope that this forum would establish a new foundation for relations between the two countries, stating his readiness to provide comprehensive practical support to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation.
The reports and presentations delivered by the diplomats and representatives of the “Kokand” FEZ provided detailed information on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, as well as the favorable conditions created for foreign investors. Promotional videos showcasing Uzbekistan's trade, economic and investment potential were also screened for the attendees.
The business forum participants highlighted the high potential for cooperation and expressed keen interest in actively participating in the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, scheduled for June 16–19, 2026, as well as other international exhibitions and trade fairs planned in the republic.
During the B2B and G2B negotiations with several prominent companies - such as “SaMASZ” (agricultural machinery), “Promostal” (steel structures), “INTERTECH” (agricultural machinery), “Equalan Pharma Europe” (cosmetics), “Mlekpol” (dairy products), “POM Augustów” (agricultural machinery), “Enea Ciepło” (thermal energy services) and “Contractus” (agriculture and food industry) - preliminary agreements were reached on implementing mutually beneficial projects between Poland and Uzbekistan.
Additionally, a visit to the company “AC S.A.” was organized, where negotiations were held with its President, Paweł Baraniuk. The meeting was also attended by Witold Karczewski, President of the Podlaskie Economic Forum, Honorary President of the Białystok Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and President of “Contractus”. The parties explored cooperation opportunities in the production of automotive equipment for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.
