• 69CAIRO, April 22. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will export green energy to Europe through a “Green Corridor,” reports Dunyo IA correspondent citing Egyptian news agencies Sada Al-Balad and Al-Diplomasi.
The initiative aims to strengthen regional energy cooperation and integrate renewable energy into international energy markets.
The project is based on strategic partnership agreements reached between the three countries in 2024 and provides for the establishment of a unified electricity transmission network. Within this framework, the national energy operators of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have already joined efforts to ensure its practical implementation.
Egyptian media note that Uzbekistan is actively developing its green energy sector. The country has commissioned solar and wind power plants with a total capacity exceeding 5.5 gigawatts, along with energy storage systems. By 2030, the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix could reach 54 percent.
The implementation of the “Green Corridor” project includes the preparation of a feasibility study and the development of infrastructure necessary for exporting electricity to Europe via the Caspian region. The initiative is viewed as an important step toward establishing an integrated and environmentally sustainable energy system in the region.
