OSH, April 26. /Dunyo IA/. An international contest and exhibition titled “Days of World Cultures” was held at Osh State University, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by the heads and staff of the consulates of Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan operating in Osh, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan in the southern regions, a delegation from Balıkesir University (Turkey), members of the Assembly of People of Kyrgyzstan in the Osh region, local media representatives, as well as students and university faculty.

As part of the contest, international students studying at the university presented exhibitions reflecting the culture and traditions of their home countries - including national musical instruments and costumes, traditional dishes and samples of folk applied art, as well as artistic and musical performances.

The event featured expositions showcasing the cultures of 18 countries, including Spain, India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Japan, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, France, Türkiye and China.

Consulate General provided Uzbek students at the university with all the necessary items to organize an exhibition reflecting their national identity, including traditional clothing, musical instruments, handicrafts and samples of folk applied art.

Berdikul Karaev, a member of the contest jury and coordinator of the Assembly of People of Kyrgyzstan for the southern regions, shared his thoughts with a Dunyo IA correspondent:

-  Culture is not just about art or traditions. It is a vital factor that reflects people's worldview, their values, and their attitudes toward one another. The opening of the unified pavilion of national cultural centers in your capital, Tashkent, last year can be seen as clear evidence of such relationships. This proves that representatives of various ethnicities in Uzbekistan live in peace and harmony under a single flag. Moreover, at today’s event, Uzbek culture and national cuisine, as always, stood out remarkably.

Based on the contest results and the jury's decision, the exhibition prepared by Uzbek students under the leadership of Okibat Ismanova, Director of the “Center of Uzbek Language and Culture”, won first place among the 18 teams.

Furthermore, the team of Uzbek students achieved the best result in the “Best National Dance” category and was recognized as the absolute winner of the event.

The university leadership and partner organizations presented the winners with valuable gifts, cash prizes and travel vouchers for a trip to the city of Tashkent.
