JEDDAH, March 3. /Dunyo IA/. Diplomats of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Jeddah organized an iftar for compatriots on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, with the aim of preserving cultural and religious traditions and supporting Uzbek citizens residing in the city, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Participants included students of the Islamic University of Madinah, Uzbek nationals temporarily engaged in employment, representatives of the diaspora, as well as Saidjamol Masaitov, Chief Specialist of the Fatwa Department of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, who arrived from Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Consulate General, together with the imam-khatib, extended congratulations to those present on the holy month of Ramadan, underscoring the humanistic essence of Islam. It was noted that the spiritual grace and atmosphere of Ramadan permeate every home in Uzbekistan, strengthening in people’s hearts a sense of compassion, tolerance and gratitude. Emphasis was placed on the fact that this month is not only a time of devotion, but also a period for elevating human dignity, supporting those in need and reinforcing harmony and solidarity within society.

On behalf of the participants, greetings from the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan were also conveyed.

It was underscored that, within the framework of the New Uzbekistan, comprehensive reforms are being carried out at the initiative of the Head of State, including in the sphere of religious enlightenment and education. In particular, higher religious educational institutions have been established, including the Mir-i Arab Madrasah in Bukhara, the Hadith Science School in Samarkand and the Imam Termizi Islamic Institute in Surkhandarya Region.

Furthermore, a number of international research centres named after eminent Islamic scholars have been founded, including the Imam Bukhari Memorial Complex in Samarkand, the Imam Termizi International Research Center in Surkhandarya Region, Bahauddin Naqshband Complex in Bukhara, and the Imam Maturidi International Scientific Research Center in Tashkent.

As part of the program, diplomats organized a thematic exhibition presenting books and periodicals dedicated to the development of the New Uzbekistan, Uzbek culture and traditions, as well as publications highlighting the rich scholarly heritage of distinguished thinkers held in high regard throughout the Muslim world.

The event concluded with a festive iftar dastarkhan for compatriots, during which participants were served traditional national dishes, including ceremonial plov.
