Turkish pharmaceutical companies explore prospects for localizing production in Uzbekistan

ISTANBUL, January 13. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from the UzPharm Agency for Pharmaceutical Industry Development held meetings with leading institutional and private entities in Turkiye, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meetings, negotiations were held with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye (TOBB) and executives and specialists from leading Turkish pharmaceutical companies, including Abdi İbrahim İlaç, Atabay Kimya, Humanis Sağlık, and Koçak Farma İlaç ve Kimya.

The delegation presented Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical reform program, aimed at accelerating industry development. Key measures include creating a favourable investment climate for foreign investors, systematically improving the regulatory framework, ensuring transparency in registration, certification, and market entry procedures for medicines and medical devices, and aligning these processes with international standards.

The meetings also highlighted Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing pharmaceutical market, increasing and stable domestic demand for medicines, state programs for local production, pharmaceutical clusters, and tax and customs incentives in free economic zones. Turkish companies were briefed on opportunities for joint ventures, production localization, transfer of advanced technologies, and scientific research collaboration in Uzbekistan.

Representatives of Turkish companies expressed interest in entering the Uzbek market, localizing production, and cooperating in innovative technologies. UzPharm Agency specialists addressed all questions, providing specific mechanisms and practical examples.

The discussions emphasized deepening bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkiye in the pharmaceutical sector, expanding mutual investments, developing production partnerships, and enhancing export potential. Turkish pharmaceutical companies showed strong interest in establishing long-term strategic partnerships and entering the Uzbek market.

In conclusion, it was noted that the meetings and visits laid a solid foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkiye in pharmaceuticals, knowledge exchange, and the implementation of joint investment projects.
