Cooperation between Uzbekistan and International IDEA discussed in Stockholm

STOCKHOLM, April 23. /Dunyo IA/. The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), Kevin Casas-Zamora, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the talks, the parties discussed ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, the growing role of parliamentarism and democratic institutions in society, as well as the importance of international cooperation in this field.
The Secretary-General of IDEA particularly noted joint activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan within the framework of the “Inter Pares” programme.
The sides also exchanged views on prospects for cooperation with IDEA in establishing inter-parliamentary exchange in the “Central Asia – Nordic Countries” format, based on accumulated experience.
The meeting agenda also included key aspects of Uzbekistan’s active parliamentary diplomacy, including initiatives aimed at promoting peace and regional cooperation.
