An International Conference marking the 585th anniversary of Alisher Navoi held in Delhi

NEW DELHI, March 26. /Dunyo IA/. An international scientific and practical conference titled “The Study of the Works of Alisher Navoi in the Countries of Central and South Asia” was held at the Centre for Persian and Central Asian Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The academic event was dedicated to the 585th anniversary of the birth of the great poet, thinker, and statesman Alisher Navoi and brought together scholars, researchers, and cultural figures from Uzbekistan, India, Kazakhstan and other countries.
The conference was organized by Jawaharlal Nehru University, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi, the State Academy of Choreography of Uzbekistan, Andijan State Pedagogical Institute, Andijan State Institute of Foreign Languages, Djumabek Tashenov University, the international popular science journal “Suz.in” as well as the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University.
The heritage of Alisher Navoi, recognized as a common treasure of humanity, continues to serve as a powerful bridge for the spiritual rapprochement of nations. Conference participants emphasized that the ideas of humanism embedded in the “Khamsa” and other immortal works of the poet resonate deeply with researchers across Central and South Asia. Navoi’s body of work was examined not only as a literary monument but also as a vital factor in shaping the region's cultural code.
During the plenary session and thematic sections, scholars from Uzbekistan, India and Kazakhstan presented papers dedicated to a comparative analysis of Navoi’s works, the challenges of translating his writings into world languages and the influence of his creative legacy on modern culture.
The conference program also featured the announcement of the results of the international scientific article competition titled “The Place of Alisher Navoi's Scientific and Creative Heritage in World Civilization” and presentation of the journal “Suz.in”.
The evening concluded with a vibrant literary and cultural program, during which Alisher Navoi’s ghazals and rubais were recited. Traditional Uzbek folk songs and dances were also performed.
The organizers noted that the conference marked a significant step in strengthening scientific and educational ties between the academic institutions of the two countries, opening new horizons for joint research projects, the exchange of expertise and the global advancement of Navoi studies.
Participants of the international conference expressed confidence that such gatherings will foster deeper mutual understanding between nations and ensure the preservation of their shared cultural heritage.
