In early April, Consulate General received collective appeals from 105 citizens of Uzbekistan employed at construction sites of the “PCO Kazan” company in the Poronaysky district of the Sakhalin region and the Svobodnensky district of the Amur region. It was established that the employer had failed to pay wages for four months, with the total debt to the workers exceeding USD 323,000.
To protect the rights of the citizens, the consular office sent official inquiries to the law enforcement agencies of the Sakhalin and Amur regions. As a result of the intervention by the Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Committee, a special task force was formed and an audit of the company's activities was conducted.
Following the audit, a criminal case was initiated against the employer under Article 145.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia - non-payment of wages. Investigative actions are currently underway.
Thanks to the measures taken, the company has already paid the workers a portion of the arrears amounting to USD 127,000. The enterprise has committed to fully settling the remaining balance of USD 196,000 by May 15.
The situation remains under the constant monitoring of the Consulate General, which continues its regular work to protect the legal rights and interests of compatriots abroad.
