MIHAS, world's largest halal products exhibition, may be held in Uzbekistan in 2027

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Karomiddin Gadoev, met with Deputy CEO of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Abu Bakar Yusof, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, parties emphasized the importance of developing a new Intergovernmental Agreement on Preferential Trade to further increase the volume of mutual trade between our countries.

The head of the corporation noted that, given the complex global geopolitical situation, Central Asia is viewed as a priority for diversifying the country's external markets. He highly praised Uzbekistan's strategic opportunities in this process and stated that he considers our country a regional hub.

The necessity of organizing a high-level national pavilion for Uzbekistan at the International Halal Exhibition (MIHAS), scheduled for September 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, was emphasized to broadly promote domestic food products abroad.

The Malaysian side, acknowledging that Uzbekistan possesses the largest halal consumer market in Central Asia, expressed its readiness to explore the possibility of hosting the MIHAS international exhibition in Tashkent next year.

An agreement was reached to organize multi-sectoral trade and investment missions of Malaysian business representatives to Uzbekistan this year under the leadership of MATRADE.

Both parties expressed confidence that these events will serve as a strategic platform for expanding bilateral trade volumes and strengthening the investment presence of Malaysian companies in Uzbekistan.
