National Library of Hungary to provide manuscript copies for the upcoming exhibition "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan – A Legacy of All Humanity" in Tashkent

BUDAPEST, June 28. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Oybek Shakhavdinov held talks with Dávid Rózsa, Director of the National Széchényi Library of Hungary, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in the study, preservation, and promotion of manuscripts related to the history, culture, and scientific heritage of Uzbekistan.

Special attention was given to prospects for organizing joint exhibitions, establishing an exchange of digital copies of rare archival and manuscript materials pertaining to Uzbekistan and the Turkic world, as well as implementing joint scientific projects, including the creation of facsimile editions of unique sources.

The discussions also covered the preparation of catalogs, joint publications, and the organization of scholarly events, including international conferences, round tables, and presentations.

The Hungarian side confirmed its readiness to participate in the opening ceremony of the international exhibition "Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan – A Legacy of All Humanity", which is scheduled to take place in Uzbekistan from August 2025 to February 2026. The National Library of Hungary expressed interest in presenting copies of manuscripts related to Uzbekistan and Turkic peoples held in its collections.

The readiness to develop partnerships with the National Library of Uzbekistan, the Center for Islamic Civilization, and other relevant institutions of Uzbekistan was also confirmed. One area of collaboration will involve joint work on creating facsimile copies of manuscripts that reflect the contributions of the peoples of Uzbekistan and the Turkic world to the development of science, culture, and philosophy.

Furthermore, the two sides agreed to organize short-term professional development courses at the Hungarian National Library for specialists from Uzbekistan, focused on the restoration, preservation, and digitization of manuscript heritage.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties affirmed their mutual interest and recognized the significant potential for further deepening the scientific and cultural dialogue between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
