Gabonese media: Uzbekistan strengthens its position as a safe and hospitable tourist destination

LIBREVILLE, March 24. /Dunyo IA/. According to 2025 results, Uzbekistan continues to demonstrate steady and dynamic growth in its tourism sector. Nearly 12 million foreign tourists visited the country, representing a 16% increase compared to the previous year, IA “Dunyo” reports, citing the Gabonese news agency AGP.
Tourism service exports exceeded USD 4.8 billion, reflecting growing international interest in Uzbekistan and strengthening its position as one of the most promising tourist destinations in the region.
“These results have been achieved thanks to consistent reforms in the tourism sector aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing transport accessibility, digitalizing services, and creating favorable conditions for travelers”, - the Central African agency writes. - The country is actively implementing projects to develop tourism clusters, improve service quality, and expand international cooperation”.
It is reported that Uzbekistan has introduced a simplified entry regime for foreign citizens. Currently, visa-free access is available to nationals of 94 countries, an e-visa system is in place for 52 countries, and a five-day visa-free transit regime applies to citizens of 45 countries.
Against the backdrop of geopolitical instability in various parts of the world, the importance of safety and комфорт for tourists continues to grow. In this context, Uzbekistan maintains its status as a stable, safe, and hospitable country, open to visitors regardless of nationality or religion. International rankings confirm the high level of safety in the country. Uzbekistan has consistently ranked among the leading countries in global safety indices in recent years. According to the International SOS Risk Map, the country is classified as “Low Risk”, placing it alongside several European states in terms of overall safety.
According to the Numbeo Safety Index, Uzbekistan ranks 25th out of 148 countries worldwide, reflecting a consistently low level of crime. In the Solo Female Travel Safety Index and the Safety Perceptions Index, the country ranks 1st globally in terms of safety for solo female travelers. Additionally, according to the Gallup Global Law and Order Index, Uzbekistan is among the world leaders in public safety and trust in law enforcement.
