Paris meeting focuses on Uzbekistan’s first cosmonaut training and satellite launch

PARIS, April 24. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Nodir Ganiev, met with the President of the National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) of France, François Jacq, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The main objective of the negotiations was to strengthen bilateral cooperation and discuss opportunities for its expansion at the institutional level.
During the meeting, the French side was provided with information on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan's space industry. It was noted that the country pays special attention to developing its national space potential. Plans were announced for the launch of the “Mirzo Ulugbek” scientific satellite in 2028, as well as the commencement of training for the first Uzbek cosmonaut.
The parties agreed to develop practical cooperation across several areas. These include the training of specialists and engineers, the organization of internships and exchange programs, the participation of Uzbek specialists in French and European space projects, the utilization of CNES grant and technical mechanisms, and the expansion of cooperation in Earth remote sensing and satellite data processing.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold a dedicated online meeting between the “Uzbekkosmos” Agency and CNES for a detailed elaboration of the further steps of interaction.
