CHENNAI, April 21. /Dunyo IA/. Embassy of Uzbekistan has conducted a large-scale roadshow in the city of Chennai, the administrative center of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event brought together over 100 leading travel companies and operators from the South Indian region, interested in expanding the geography of their partnerships.

The organizers showcased Uzbekistan’s rapidly growing tourism potential to the forum participants. A special emphasis was placed on modern hotels and resorts, historical monuments and cultural centers, as well as infrastructure improvements and the launch of new, attractive travel itineraries.

Representatives of “Uzbekistan Airways” JSC provided detailed information regarding air connectivity between the two nations, covering flight frequencies and ticketing conditions, including special offers for tour groups.

Over the past 5-6 years, the flow of travellers from India to Uzbekistan has increased manifold. The results of 2025 were particularly impressive, with our country welcoming over 80,000 Indian tourists for the first time. Roadshow participants noted with optimism that the potential for further growth remains immense.

The increasing number of direct flights has become a key driver of demand. Today, regular flights to Tashkent are operated not only from Delhi but also from Mumbai and Goa. The geography of flights continues to expand: “Centrum Air” has launched services on the Tashkent-Delhi route, while “Uzbekistan Airways” JSC has introduced direct flights from Namangan to the Indian capital.

Indian tour operators expressed a keen interest in deepening cooperation. They were particularly impressed by the dynamic development of Uzbekistan’s tourism infrastructure. Modern hotels, convenient intercity transportation and a wide variety of dining and leisure facilities are contributing to the steady increase in tourist arrivals to our country."

During the Q&A session, representatives of the Indian business community received comprehensive responses to all key inquiries. It was specifically highlighted that Uzbekistan’s “gems” - Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Shahrisabz and other cities - are now interconnected by high-speed trains and convenient domestic flights, ensuring maximum comfort for travellers.

In light of the rapid growth in tourist arrivals from India, Uzbekistan is developing a specialized program to train chefs for cafes and restaurants specializing in authentic Indian cuisine. This initiative ensures that guests from South Asia can enjoy their traditional flavours while away from home, making their journey even more pleasant.
